Mary Beth Casarez (she, her), MA, LPC

In life, we focus on the what’s next, the what ifs, and how comes. Understanding ourselves in all stages of our lives is crucial to growth and continued self-compassion. As an avid runner, I believe we all can cross the finish line. Therapy is not a sprint it’s a marathon. There will be some forks in the road, beautiful paths, and uncertainty about where the finish line is, but I believe in the power of the journey.

I don’t believe that therapy is a one-size-fits-all. Therefore, my approach is tailored to your personal experiences and processes. Working with clients from week to week may bring about some emotional pain or even feelings of empowerment. I always let the client drive, but I will have a map on hand. No one is meant to figure it all out on their own. Therapy is beneficial at any stage of life. Whether it be the good times, the bad times, or the in-betweens, I would love to help you navigate through life.

Clinical Areas of Interest/Training

I work with couples, families, and individuals with populations aged 13 and up. Clinically, I have trained in CBT and have my Gottman Level 1 training in working with couples. I also have experience in treating grief, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and sexual intimacy issues.

Education

I attended Trinity Christian College for both my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. My undergrad focused on a Psychology Major and a Minor in Sociology. I then went on to pursue my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During my internship, I specialized in performing bio-neurofeedback through the implementation of BrainPaint. I also conducted adolescent and adult therapy groups in outpatient and partial hospitalization settings.

License

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Illinois. My license number is 178.020644.
