Being a child and especially a teenager these days is not easy. There are so many pressures that have to be navigated through. These can come from peers, school, develomental age, family dynamics and even the society at large. These problems can then carry over to the relationships experienced with family members, making it a difficult situation at home for everyone. Some of these pressures and problems are:

  • Being misunderstood by peers and parents
  • Difficulty communicating with parents and peers
  • Not enough confidence or low self esteem
  • Poor social skills
  • Feeling alone and/or misunderstood
  • Not understanding the natural changes that the body is going through
  • Difficulty with academics/testing/homework
  • Anxiety -worrying, overthinking, stressing out, feeling tense or overwhelmed
  • Depression-wanting to be left alone, feeling down/sad, not wanting to eat, problems sleeping, not able to concentrate, thoughts of death or suicide
  • ADHD-hyperactive, unable to focus, fidgety, not able to follow directions, losing things
  • Peer pressure  
  • Bullying
  • Anger issues
  • Self Injury-cutting, burning, picking, biting, head banging
  • Anxiety brought on by preparing for the standardized tests for college admissions
  • Preparing for transitioning to college
  • LGBTQ struggles

Together, we can explore these pressures and problems in a safe and supportive environment.

You will learn new tools to be able to cope with whatever life throws at you and discover ways for you to feel heard and understood.
